Teen Book Reviews (Part 3)

I am back with yet another book review! Please comment and review and follow me! I follow back!!

 Title: The Teashop Girls
Author: Laura Schaefer
Age Group: 8-14 (According to Amazon)
Rating: ♥♥♥♥

Thirteen year old Annie loves to drink tea and she is trying to keep her grandmother's tea shop up and alive. As she attempts to pick up more new faces, she deals with some problems. Her friends seem to not be interested in the teashop anymore and she develops a crush on a worker in the tea shop.

This book was very impressive because of it's extraordinary characters and it's lack of sex and drugs. You see, some books out on the YA bookshelves are filled with swearing, sex and drugs. This one just seems innocent. And plus, the cute little ads for tea and recipes in between the chapters just make you love it more.  I love drinking tea and this book makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. I'm definitely looking forward to read more books by her.

Title: The Earth, My Butt And Other Big Round Things
Author: Carolyn Macker

Age Group: 13-15 years old
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Virginia Shreves is an average girl compared to her extraordinary family. Her best friend has moved away and she longs for a boyfriend. As the chapters go on, Virginia struggles to lose weight and deal with her imperfections. Later, she learns her brother has date-raped.

This book is funny but it deals with some very un-funny things. Stuff like, eating disorders, parental pressure and losing weight. Carolyn Macker has written with such an intensity that it seems like the character is right in front of my eyes. I would recommend it to many people, no matter what your size or issue is.
